I finally upgraded to Windows Vista, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they integrated my favorite XP Power Tool--"Open Command Window Here"--directly into the OS. Holding shift and right clicking on a folder includes some special menu items, one of which opens the console.
Also, they finally--finally--allow you to specify a larger width for the console. You still can't drag to resize it, but at least you can go into properties and set it to 160 columns of something.
Both changes are LONG overdue, and might make development in windows a bit less annoying.
EDIT: Hmmm... it looks like the resizing of the console has always been there. It's actually implemented in the most annoying way possible.
